The Catholic Church is up in arms over Lady Gaga’s new video for “Judas” and the premier hasn’t even happen yet. Gaga is set to portray Mary Magdalene with actor Norman Reedus portraying Judas.
The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights believes that this is a publicity stunt on Gaga’s part. ” I find Gaga to be increasingly irrelevant. Is this the only way to jet up her performance?
This isn’t random, we are getting closer to Holy Week and Easter,” said Bill Donahue, the organization’s president.
In the bibles New Testament Magdalene is a prostitute who becomes reformed and is one Jesus most loyal followers. She was the first to see him after his resurrection and many sects consider her a saint.
Many consider Gaga a Madonna copycat who also had her problems with the Catholic Church when her 1989 video for “Like a Prayer” portrayed Jesus as a black man.www.mannamart.com
