INEC to decide on Imo governorship poll, today

INEC is to meet today,(Friday)  to take a final decision on the inconclusive governorship poll in  Imo, a statement said. The statement,  by Mr Kayode Idowu, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, in Abuja,yesterday explained that the step was necessitated by difficulties experienced with the poll.
It stated that the difficulties made the returning officer to declare the election inconclusive, adding that INEC had  consulted with its lawyers for advice on the next line of action.
 “The Commission is scheduled to meet on April 29 to take a final decision,” it stressed.
The statement urged everyone concerned to be patient and await further directives, which would be communicated as soon as a decision was taken.
It urged everyone to be peaceful and avoid taking laws into their hands.
The statement restated the commission’s resolve to ensure the highest level of integrity and credibility for the election and solicited the cooperation of all stakeholders.
